Sometimes, the reason it’s hard to get up in the morning before everyone else is because we are not excited about our day. This is true for all of us. So many of us face the day to day as a grind that we just have to get through. No wonder our bodies don’t want to get up in the morning! Who wants to face that kind of day?

Embrace the morning
Today, a Monday, I woke up about 7 minutes before my hubby’s alarm went off for 5. I do this most days. Most days, I don’t need an alarm to get up at 5:00. I don’t even have an alarm clock on my side of the bed. I was never a morning person until I discovered the value of the early, quiet hours before everyone else is up.
The first thing you should try is to create a ritual for yourself for that early morning time. Something that you are excited about. Something your body looks forward to. Something that your mind can’t wait to get to.
Create a ritual
My morning starts with listening to meditation music or a guided meditation. Whatever calls to me. It can last 2 minutes to 15 minutes. Whatever I feel drawn to. And then I write for a few minutes. Journaling mostly. Sometimes a story. Again, whatever calls to me.
And then, I plan my day. I look at the to do lists and I find three things that I’m going to focus on today. The rest waits until those three things get done.
The day doesn’t start on overwhelm. It starts with focusing on me. It starts in the quiet as I ease into the day.
